So you think you need a marketing strategy? You probably do. But we still want to make sure you know just why it is so important.
So, why on earth would you need a marketing strategy? Lots of businesses do not have a marketing strategy. Even businesses with “marketing” sometimes just don’t have a strategy. You can create a site without a strategy and run PPC campaigns without a strategy. Then why should you have one?
Strategy is the foundation of your marketing.
Just as you need a business plan to know where your business is going, your marketing strategy will act as your roadmap in all your marketing decisions. You need to know where you are going and how you are going to get there.
So, you know you need a marketing strategy, but what is it exactly?
What form does it take, what does it include?
Well, thank you for asking! As with most things, not all strategies are equal. What we notice most often are people who think they have a strategy or people selling strategies which are not actually strategies #saywhat?
A list of marketing actions is NOT a strategy. A strategy should include, well, strategic items and not simply be a list of means. We know everyone is in a hurry and wants to get into the “what do we do”, but we think it’s important to take a step back and wonder “why do we do what we do”, “how do we do things differently” and maybe it will lead us to redefine or better define “what we do as a company”. Only then can we actually decide what we are going to post on instagram for the next month. This takes some time (and some money too), but trust us, it will end up saving you loooooooots of time (and money too).
Your strategy will come in the form of a PDF document of 25 to 50 pages.
It includes the following.
The assessment is about the current state of your company. It includes an “about`` part, a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats), a diagnosis and your company’s marketing challenge.
We recap and organize the main aspects of the mix: your product (or service), the price, the distribution and the promotion.
That’s where things get extra interesting. This is the part where we do our magic. And just like magic, once it’s laid out there on the table it looks so easy and obvious (but countless hours went into getting to this point). We will get into the concept, positioning, targets, objectives and creative strategy.
Lastly, we lay out the action plan: where will the message be spread and when and how much will that cost 💸#moneytalk
You may now be wondering how we do things, as a marketing agency when working on a marketing strategy for a client. We are not going to tell you our secret sauce #sorrynotsorry but here is the process.
First things first, we want to know you, your company, your goals. That’s when we chat to learn all that.
Yes you read that correctly, we’ll have you do work. We will send you a questionnaire which will inform us about all there is to know about your company. No extra credits for that though…
#3 Secret Sauce
Now you can relax, that’s when we do the work. As indicated, the sauce is secret but it involves analyses, brainstorming sessions, long days and evenings of writing, head scratching, way too many coffees and eureka moments.
Once we’re proud of what we’ve come up with, we’ll present it to you.
#5 Happy tears (and feedback)
This is one of our favorite moments, you get emotional seeing your vision come to life and may shed a happy tear #blessed. You are also allowed (and encouraged) to give feedback.
Once all is approved, we decide what’s next. This is different for every business depending on which stage you are at. It usually involves implementing the action plan we created.
Our goal is to help you reach your business’ goals. So our goals are your goals really.
When working on a marketing strategy, our main objective is to provide you with a clear vision and actionable plan.
What we have heard from previous clients and want to hear from you is something like that: “It was exactly what was scattered around my brain that I couldn’t express with words, now organized and making sense on paper.”
The time frame will depend on the scope of work.
We are typically able to present the marketing strategy within 15 days after receiving your filled questionnaire.
We will then get into feedback rounds which can range from 0 (if the strategy is approved as is), to 2-3 weeks.
"AHBC Group perfectly understood my business. Highly recommended for entrepreneurs who want to bring their small businesses to the next level."
"I'm really happy to have worked with AHBC especially Anne-Heloise, who understood and realized exactly what I wanted."
